I work with Divorce and Allocation of Parental Responsibility cases.
An attorney in Colorado typically charges $5000 to be retained and begin work on the case. I charge based on a package system that depends on the client's financial ability and need, up to $2000.
My office is in Colorado Springs, but I work remotely most of the time and take cases all over the country.
A paralegal will not be able to represent you in court for any of your hearings where a lawyer will do that. The paralegal will prepare you and assist you with hearing preparation, but the client will represent themselves in Court. A lawyer will be able to provide you with legal counsel where the paralegal cannot ethically do that and will be able to guide you through the process and procedures of divorce.
With a lawyer you are generally looking at spending $10,000-20,000 at the least to get you through your divorce. With a paralegal you are looking at around $4,000 if that.
